Meet Lydia
A beautiful woman who takes pride in her work and is eager to learn a new skill
Cotton Tree is a Johannesburg-based studio creating hand-embroidered cushions thatbring texture, intention, and authenticity into contemporary homes. Founded in2017, our story began with a simple mindfulness practice—knitting and crochetas a way to slow down, find focus, and reconnect. That meditative craft soonbecame a calling, and eventually, a small business rooted in purpose.
We believe in the power of working with your hands—not just as a means to create beauty, but as a profound tool for mental well-being. Every piece we produce is a quiet celebration of this philosophy:crafted slowly, with care, by local artisans whose skills and stories are stitched into every thread.
Cotton Tree stands at the intersection ofsustainability, sophisticated design, and emotional resonance. In a world moving away from mass production, our pieces are made for those seeking meaningful décor—products that calm the senses, layer texture and warmth, and bring individuality to the spaces we cherish most.
Our customers value quality, intentional living, and design with a soul. They don’t just decorate—they curate, choosing distinctive pieces that speak to who they are. At Cotton Tree, we’re proud to offer more than cushions; we offer craftsmanship, community, and a story worth telling.
